House...  Rockwood is an attractive detached Victorian house situated in an elevated position overlooking Muncaster Fell, Birker Fell and the River Mite valley (Lower Eskdale).

The house provides self-catering accommodation for up to six people on the edge of the village of Eskdale Green in Eskdale in the beautiful and secluded Western Lake District.  The house is spacious, warm and comfortable and was recently refurbished to a high standard.  Pets are welcome by arrangement.

There are three double bedrooms (plus a small single bedroom which is available on request), two reception rooms, kitchen, bathroom and utility room.

Rockwood has been awarded four stars under “Visit England’s” accreditation scheme for self-catering accommodation.  The rating is based on a personal inspection by one of scheme’s experienced assessors.

Setting...  Rockwood is set in approximately an acre of terraced gardens with extensive views over the surrounding fells and countryside.  The house is situated opposite Irton Road station on the narrow-gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.  Steam trains can be seen from the house and gardens and are always popular with train enthusiasts.

Location...  Eskdale, together with neighbouring Wasdale and the Duddon valley, are among the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District.  Eskdale Green is within easy reach of many of the highest peaks in the Lake District as well as numerous visitor attractions.  There are also many pleasant walks in the immediate area, many of which can start and finish from Rockwood’s front door.

The village of Eskdale Green has a well-stocked local shop which caters for all daily needs and there are two pubs within easy walking distance, as well as many others only a short walk, cycle or drive away.
